SELIMI HOUSE

The organizing element STUDIAE’s design of the one-story Selimi House in Prishtina is an enclosed street-side courtyard around which all public and semi-public spaces reside. Suites for Primary and Secondary Bedrooms flank these spaces with their own private patios and separate access. The architecture for the house is a mature combination of warm travertine, metallic bronze, and ample glass. The interior incorporates wood as an inviting material in addition to the exterior materials that occasionally inhabit the interior. The open plan for living, dining, and cooking spaces adjacent to the enclosed courtyard creates an inviting, naturally-lit, safe environment for the couple living here and visitations by their extended family, including small grandchildren.
