CHINA MERCHANT FINANCIAL DISTRICT

The China Merchant Financial District is a multi-block mixed-use development that includes a multi-level open-air retail podium above which are streamlined Office Buildings that form the future headquarters for the China Merchant company. While the unique design and overall aesthetics of the development is the major focus of this limited competition entry, the technological and sustainable design inclusions within the complex are significant. Energy efficiency, reduction of energy costs, and a clean and healthy work environment are achieved through passive solar design, geo-thermal technology, energy recovery systems, water retention/reuse, and improved indoor air quality.
